Starting up a Forum Community on a topic of your interest may be just about the most enjoyable venture you can take on the internet. But, it definitely can be a huge challenge and requires persistence. The first thing is that is required to have successful forum is to have a feasible topic and design to go along with the theme of the topic. If your members are expected to use and contribute to your forum on a daily basis, it is extremely important that they will like the design that they will be looking at everyday. The topic and design aspect of a forum is essential for a success of a forum but is not the only obstacle to building a forum. For those of you who that have created a forum, but not exactly been too successful with it probably know exactly what I mean when I say that getting committed is probably the hardest thing there is to a forum.
You first have to understand that when you start a forum, there is no content or members. And with none of that stuff, who is going to want to join an empty forum that will probably be just a waste of time.
The objective of this article is to present to you a few ways that you can use to increase the chances of success in attracting members to your forum.
1.)Make Fake Accounts and posting with them can be a great way to add some initially content and show that it’s not a dead forum. However, the dangerous here is that if real members befriends a fake member. Another concern is that the forum may be filled by only one person’s opinion or writing style, which can make it a bit boring or uninteresting.
2.)Pay Forum Posteris a good way to build content on your forum at a relatively low cost. The main concern here, is that the forum poster may not be knowledgeable in the topic of the forum nor interested. He or she may be posting just to get the job done, and this will make the content of the forum very bland.
3.)Get Friends and Relatives to join the forum and contribute. There’s not much problem with this other than, the fact that they may not be very interested or persistence. If you can get them to join and post there regularly contribute to the forum, all the power to you.
4.)Advertise by buying banner space, link or PPC Programs such as Adwords can increase the traffic to your forum and maybe even get a member here and there. The problem with this is that it can be quite expensive and probably not worth the cost most of the time.
5.)SEO your way up to the top of the search engine. Most people discover forums through search engines, so you can improve your backlink and refine your keywords to make sure you get the best position on search engines as you can for your forum.
6.)Posting regularly yourself is probably one of the most effective and easy ways to increase your chances of success. A good rule of thumb is to make at least 2-3 post every 2 days or so. It may get difficult, especially when there is not many other members to interact with, but at least its free and genuine.
There is my 6 tips on things you can do to build a successful forum community. Starting up a forum in the beginning is the hardest part and does require a lot of work. If you don’t think you have the time or resources to do it, it maybe a good idea to partner up with another person, but make sure they share the same interest as you when it comes to the subject of the forum.
